Keppel has signed the final fiber pair on its Bifrost subsea cable system, with a global hyperscaler taking the last of the system’s five pairs. Total contract value across the project now stands at $1.3 billion.
Bifrost is the first subsea cable to directly link Singapore to the US West Coast via Indonesia, spanning over 20,000 km and adding more than 240 Tbps of trans-Pacific capacity to support AI and cloud demand. Customers include major telecom operators, hyperscalers, and global tech companies.
Keppel holds its stake through a 40-60 joint venture with private fund co-investors, and expects the project to deliver an internal rate of return of about 30%.
Keppel is now evaluating two more routes: Singapore to the Middle East (with South Asia branches), and Singapore to Japan via the South China Sea (with ASEAN branches).
