Jerry Soloway has been involved in the communications industry for over 40 years and has been held executive positions in the research and development of communications equipment, as well as in the deployment, sales, product management, and business development aspects of the business. He has worked for large communications suppliers as well as start-up and the last 20 years as a consultant. For the past 12 years he has focused primarily on the area of submarine cable consulting, including technology and business development. Jerry’s involvement in submarine technology has spanned a broad spectrum of areas. Jerry was formerly the Chief Operating Officer of Cinturion, a proposed subsea cable using the latest optical technology. He has been the lead technologist on several projects for the U.S. Navy. Prior to consulting, Jerry was the Senior Vice President of Engineering, and later for Business Development of a publicly held communications with multi-billion dollar revenues. Jerry joined this company when it was still quite small and during his 8 years with the company saw its revenues grow from a less than $100M to a few billion dollars. It also had a successful IPO in 2001. Jerry had previously spent 29 years at Bell Laboratories, later part of Lucent Technologies. Starting as a new engineer, Jerry took on increasing responsibilities and at the time he left was an executive managing a product line with several hundred million dollars of revenue. Jerry has a Ph.D. in Communications from Polytechnic Institute of New York. He also holds an MS from NYU and a BS from Cooper Union, both in Electrical Engineering. He is the author of several articles in the field of communications and currently holds six patents.
